This pastel was done on a beautiful day approaching the fall. Even though it was a beautiful day I felt like giving up, because the work wasn’t going as I hoped it would. The familiar phrase from St. Benedict came to mind, “always, we begin again.” This gave me a renewed sense of purpose and reminded me that even when things aren’t working out as we hope or imagine, we can still take grace for the next step.
